Shital's-Kitchen: My Nails!!

My Nails!!

I spend lot of time in the kitchen cooking and that means cleaning up too. It is therefore important to take care of my hands and nails. I don't like chipped polish and broken nails. I am not perfect every time, but I try to keep them clean and always done :) I also like to use hand scrubs to clean and moisturize hands and cuticle. I used to buy hand scrubs, but recently I came across Cutepolish videos and made my own Homemade Sugar scrubs with peppermint essential oil and another one with fresh lemons from my backyard. Below are the pictures and recipe. Do not forget to make your own and leave a comment below. Also, please share picture on my Facebook page!  I would love to get more ideas for you all. Thank you Cutepolish!

I love getting my nails done! I mostly get cuticles trimmed and a simple polish from either Tina or May at Spa Renity. Inspired by Cutepolish videos on YouTube, I try to do my own nail art :)  Below are few pictures of my nail designs. I will update this page with new designs so do not forget to check back soon.

Peppermint Sugar Scrub
With Christmas around the corner, I made these cute hand scrubs to gift my friends. With very few ingredients from my kitchen, this scrub was ready in just few minutes.

1 Cup Sugar
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 crushed candy cane
Few drops of peppermint essential oil (optional)

Mix all the ingredients well and store in a glass jar. Use 1/4-1/2 spoon of scrub during bedtime. Scrub hands and cuticle well.  Rinse with warm water and wipe your hands. Sugar acts as an exfoliator and oil as moisturizer.

Lemon Hand Scrub
With plenty of lemons from my backyard, I can not only use them for regular food and pickles, but also in making homemade scrubs. Here is the link that describes benefit of using lemons in scrub. You can also use this hand scrub on face. With all organic ingredients, I am just loving this.

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup olive oil (or less)
Lemon rind (optional)
2-3 tbsp. lemon juice
Few drops of lemon essential oil
Mix all the ingredients well and store in a glass jar. Use 1/2 to 1/2 tsp. Scrub hands and cuticle well.  Rinse with warm water and wipe your hands. Sugar acts as an exfoliator and oil as moisturizer.

Enjoy soft and clean hands!

  2. Hi Shital, this is awesome! I love scrubs - I've made my own but your recipes seem great - will be trying the lemon one soon. I have the same question as Rinz, where do you get these cute bottles from?
    Thanks, Shaila
