Mumbai Tawa Pulav

Mumbai Tava Pulav remind me of rustic street food in Mumbai (India). A meal that contains rice and veggies with powdered spices. Tava, means griddle. This recipe is prepared on hot griddle. It is a quick recipe that can create impression on your guest. This hot Mumbai specialty can be enjoyed during rainy season.

The picture above was taken on a Windows phone using Dual Cam Photo App that was made by my husband!! So glad I was able to put myself in the picture in just 1 click :) It is a fun app and I have used it a lot!

Chop onions, garlic and bell pepper.

Add 2 tbsp. of butter on hot tava (griddle)

Fry 1 tsp of jeera (cumin seeds)

Fry chopped onions, garlic and bell pepper.

Add cauliflower florets in the center of the griddle.

Cover cauliflower florets with onions and allow it to cook for 2-3 mins.

Add 2 copped tomatoes in the center of the griddle.

Add 1/2 cup green peas.

Add 1/4 cup water and cook well.

Add a pinch of salt, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 2-3 tbsp. of badshah Pavbhaji Masala, freshly squeezes lemon juice, salt to taste.

Mix the veggies well with the masala.

Add 3 cups of cooked basmati rice to cooked veggies.

Mix rice and veggies while on the griddle. Use a stainless steel plate and a spatula to help you mix the ingredients.

Mix well.

Masala incorporated with rice and veggies.

Well mixed rice! Sprinkle 1/4 cup water and cook on the griddle.

Pack rice in a bowl. Invert the bowl over a serving plate and serve with a dollop of Amul butter and freshly chopped cilantro.

Enjoy Mumbai Tava Pulav with a dollop of
Amul Butter!!
