Also spending some time at Michael's craft store was worth it! Made some candy covered cookies and candy covered pretzel rods :)
These cute baby face cake pops were made of moist chocolate cake and chocolate frosting dipped in vanilla flavored white candy.
Start with baking a regular cake or cup cakes. I added milk instead of water to make it more moist :) Read How to bake a perfect cake? for a leveled cake. You do not need a leveled or a perfect cake for pops :)
To make chocolate frosting: Whisk 1/2 cup unsalted butter till it is light and fluffy. Add 3 cups sugar and 1 cup cocoa powder. 3-4 tbsp. milk (for desired consistency. Whisk well.
Crumble cooled chocolate cake in a large mixing bowl. Add 1 cup of frosting. Mix the frosting well with the crumbled cake. Make small round balls. Since these are baby faces, I almost scooped an ice cream scoop size to have same size faces. Lay the balls on a cookie sheet and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Add lollipop stick on the base or flat side of the ball with a bit of melted candy. This acts as a glue and would keep the stick from falling. Refrigerate till the candy dries.
Melt white candy in a microwave following the melting instructions. Dip each pop in candy and let it set on the stand. Once they are set, I place them in a glass to refrigerate them easily.
Use candy gel or colored candy or edible writing pen or chocolate to make eyes, hair and a smile. Use necklace candy to make pacifiers.
Place in a decorative container and you are ready to party! :)
